Bulls Take Series From Akron, Go 3-2 On Week The Bulls finished with a 3-2 record this past week in their five games. The Bulls began with a loss to St. Bonaventure in the opening round of the Big Four classic, but defeated Niagara in the consolation bracket for a third place finish. The Bulls then defeated Akron in the first two games of their series before falling in 11 innings in the final game of the series. The Bulls set a school record for MAC wins in a season with their seventh on Friday and the team will look to build on that record with nine conference games still remaining. Pizzuto Has Big Week Freshman Bobby Pizzuto (Mentor, OH/Notre Dame Cathedral) had one of his best weeks in his brief college career. Pizzuto hit .542 on the week and had 13 hits, including two doubles. The freshman outfielder drove in eight runs, while crossing the plate seven times on his own. Pizzuto also recorded his second triple of the season, helping UB to its third straight conference series victory. Pizzuto is currently second on the team with a .331 batting average. Pizzuto was named to the Big Four Classic All-Tournament team following UB’s third place finish.
Folli Still Leading The Way Junior Mike Folli (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) continues to lead the team with a .351 batting average. Folli is the only player on the roster to start all 37 games this season and is the team leader with 52 hits and 12 stolen bases. His 23 walks are also tops on the team, accounting for a .446 on base percentage. Skonieczki Wanted For Grand Larceny Freshman Adam Skonieczki (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) has perfected the art of stealing bases as he has been successful on all eight of his tries this season. Skonieczki stole four of those bases this past weekend as he had three in UB’s 12-3 victory over Akron. The freshman outfielder then stole home in UB’s extra-inning loss on Sunday. As a team, UB has stolen 49 bases in 63 attempts, good for a 78 percent success rate.

Friday’s game will begin at 3:00 pm, while the games on Saturday and Sunday will start at 1:00 pm. |
