Bulls Fall to Akron in Second Game of Conference Weekend Series Hold Zips to eight hits, compared to allowing 11 hits per game for the season AKRON, OH – In game two of a conference weekend series, the University at Buffalo baseball team fell to Akron, 4-1 on Saturday afternoon with the Zips leading the series 2-0. In the loss, the Bulls managed to hold the Zips to eight hits in the game, compared to the Bulls’ allowing an average of 11 hits per game for the season.
In the top of the first, the Bulls put runners at the corners off a right-field double by Brad Agustin followed by a single to center by Chris Ciesla, advancing Agustin to third. The Bulls’ took a 1-0 lead as Rob Lawler grounded out to second while Agustin raced home from third.
In the remaining innings, the Zips added single runs to their lead in the fifth and seventh innings for a 4-1 victory. In 5.0 innings of work, starter Zach Anderson (3-5) recorded the Bulls’ loss. Agustin and Brian Randazzo went 2-for-3 with Agustin scoring the Bulls’ run. The Bulls (15-25, 3-13 MAC) will take on the Zips in the conference weekend series finale on Sunday, April 26 with the first pitch set for 1:00 pm.
