Baseball Wins Second Straight Over Ohio, 4-0
ATHENS, OH - Buffalo pitchers Chris McGraw (Summerville, SC/Stratford) and Sean McWilliams (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) combined to shut out Ohio on five hits as the Bulls blanked the Bobcats, 4-0, at Bob Wren Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls took two out of three from Ohio in the three-game series. Buffalo got on the board quickly as Joe Mihalics (Tonawanda, NY/Timon/St. Jude) smacked a two-run home run in the top of the first inning. The score remained 2-0 until the top of the seventh inning when a triple by James Kingsley (Medina, NY/Medina) plated Mihalics and Andrew Wengert (Utica, NY/Proctor) to give the Bulls a 4-0 lead. The four runs would be more than enough for McGraw and McWilliams who were stellar on the mound. McGraw allowed only four hits over seven innings. McWilliams allowed one hit over two innings and was credited with the save. UB collected 12 hits on the afternoon, including three by Wengert and two apiece by Mihalics and Kingsley. With the win, the Bulls improved to 10-24 overall and 3-7 in the MAC. Ohio fell to 13-23 overall and
6-9 in the conference. Up next for the Bulls is a date with Niagara in the opening game of the Big Four Classic
on Tuesday at Dunn Tire Park. First pitch is slated for 3 pm. |
