Dunford Earns MAC HonorsBUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo junior righthander Brendan Dunford (Buffalo, NY/Timon/St. Jude) has been selected as the Mid-American Conference's East Division Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the league office.
In his start against the Bobcats, Dunford held Ohio scoreless for 8.1 innings before Ohio scored in the ninth to break up his shutout bid, running a scoreless string of 10.2 innings which included the final 2.1 innings of his relief role at Niagara. A sociology major, Dunford is in his first season with the Bulls after transferring from Canisius. He leads the Bulls with 34 strikeouts, fanning 21 in his last three appearances. Dunford is the second UB pitcher to earn MAC honors. Sophomore righthander John Sullivan (Buffalo, NY/Timon/St. Jude) picked up the award on March 12 with his complete game two-hit victory over St. Bonaventure on March 8.
