BUFFALO, NY Buffalo (10-25) snapped a six-game losing streak in a big way by sweeping a doubleheader from Canisius (2-26-1) on Wednesday afternoon at Amherst Audubon Field. The Bulls won game one, 19-1, and took the nightcap, 11-7.

In game one, Buffalo scored a season-high 19 runs. Joe Mihalics (Tonawanda, NY/Timon/St. Jude) was 3-for-5 with a triple and drove in a team-high five runs. Phil Vanhorne (Scarborough, Ontario/Mother Teresa) and Clint McKeever (Antwerp, NY/Indian River) each drove in four runs. In the sixth inning, Bryan Sanchez (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) launched his team-best fifth home run of the season and second in as many games. Sanchez's homer scored Brandon DiCesare (Rochester, NY/McQuaid Jesuit) who reached base after hitting his 36th career double, tying him for first all-time at UB.

Kyle Swiatocha (Forest Hills, NY/Holy Cross) got his first career start on the mound for the Bulls and made the best of it. The senior hurler tossed a complete game and allowed one run on six hits and struck out five.

Canisius got off to a good start in game two, as it put three runs on the board in the top of the first inning. However, the Bulls quickly answered with four runs in the bottom of the first. The key blow was a two-run double by Kevin Nesteruk (Cheektowaga, NY/West Seneca East). The Bulls hot hitting continued in the bottom of the second inning as they put a five spot on the board. The Bulls got RBI singles from DiCesare, Jordan Alcott (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) and Andrew Wengert (Utica, NY/Proctor) and a two-run double by Adrian Daniels (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport).

UB scored two more runs on a single by Alcott in the fourth inning to take an 11-3 lead. After scoring one in the fifth, the Griffs rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning, but would get no closer as they dropped their fourth straight game.

Dustin Clark (Adams Center, NY/South Jefferson) allowed two earned runs and struck out five over five innings to pick up his third win of the year. Jordan Neufeld got the loss for Canisius after he allowed seven earned runs over 3 1/3 innings.
