Blair Wins MAC AwardBUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo first baseman Corey Blair (Oneida, NY/Oneida) has been named as the Mid-American Conference's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced late Tuesday.
A social sciences major with a 3.56 grade point average, Blair has started all 21 games for the Bulls this season, collecting eight RBIs with nine runs scored and homering once. Blair is the third UB athlete to win the award this year. Football lineman Andy Avery (Rochester, MI/Rochester Adams) and women's basketball forward Jessica Kochendorfer (Allen, MI/Quincy) have been previously honored by the league. The MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week honor is presented to the MAC male and female
student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that
week's competition. The winners are selected by one of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
