Bulls Fall to Canisius in the NinthBulls
tie game in the bottom of the eighth
BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo baseball team was unable to overcome Canisius' ninth-inning offensive explosion, falling to the Big Four rival 10-6 on Tuesday afternoon. Despite trailing 5-2 heading into the bottom of the eighth, the Bulls managed to tie the Golden Griffins with the game coming down to the ninth inning.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Bulls cut the Golden Griffins' lead in half with an RBI single by Charlie Karstedt. Trailing 5-2 in the bottom of the eighth, the Bulls tied the game at 5-5. Adam Skonieczki led the Bulls' tying efforts by punching a two-RBI single through the right side to tie the game at five a piece. In the top of the ninth, the Golden Griffins jumped out to a 10-5 lead with a two-RBI double followed by a two-RBI single. The Bulls managed to score one run in the ninth off a ground out to second by Jacob Rosenbeck. Bobby Pizzuto went to 2-for-3 and Rosenbeck went 2-for-4 with each recording a run and an RBI.
The Bulls (14-19, 3-8 MAC) will finish their two-week homestand with a non-conference matchup versus Le Moyne College on Wednesday, April 15 with the first pitch set for 4:00 pm.
