Bulls on Four-Game Win Streak with Victory over Western Michigan

Miville-Deschenes, Anderson and Crumb combine to hold Broncos to four hits


BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo baseball team continues to roll with a four-game win streak by capturing a 12-3 victory over Western Michigan in the second game of a home weekend conference series on Saturday. Pierre Miville-Deschenes, Zach Anderson and Kevin Crumb held the Broncos' offense to four hits on the afternoon.

Throwing over 115 pitches in 7.0 innings of work, Miville-Deschenes (4-2) held the Broncos to three hits. Along the way to his fourth victory of the season, Miville-Deschenes struck out five batters.

The Bulls jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second with the Bulls getting on the board off an RBI-triple by Rob Lawler.

Heading into the bottom of the fifth ahead 2-0, the Bulls began to build on their lead with a five-run effort. With runners on second and third, Lawler poked a two-RBI double down the right-field line to extend the Bulls' lead to 7-0.

The Broncos garnered two runs in the top of the sixth to cut into the Bulls' lead 7-2. The Broncos' runs came off an RBI-single to right by Max Kelmigian followed by a ground out to third by Matthew Abro, allowing a run to score.

The Bulls sealed the win in the bottom of the eighth with four runs. Three of the Bulls' four runs came off RBI-singles by Adam Skonieczki, Brad Agustin and Charlie Karstedt. The Bulls' final run of the game came off a Broncos' wild pitch with Agustin racing home to give the Bulls a ten-run lead at the end of the eighth.

Chris Ciesla went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs. Agustin went 2-for-4 including a walk, an RBI and two runs. Lawler went 2-for-5 with a team-high three RBIs.

The Bulls (14-17, 3-7 MAC) will close out their home weekend conference series versus the Broncos on Sunday, April 12 with the first pitch set for 1:00 pm.
