BUFFALO, NY - Jeff Loveys (Woodstock, Ontario/College Avenue SS) and Dave Brozyna (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech) combined to hold Bowling Green to two runs on four hits en route to a 3-2 victory at Amherst Audubon Field on Friday afternoon. Loveys earned his first win of the season after pitching seven strong innings and Brozyna earned his first career save by tossing two shutout innings of relief.

Bowling Green got on the board first when Nolan Remold hit a home run to lead off the second inning. The Bulls answered in the bottom of the second inning when David Amaro (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) singled home Steve Legrett (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) to tie the game, 1-1.

The Falcons scored a run in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI groundout by David Barkholz. Buffalo had the answer again in the bottom eighth inning. After he led off the inning with a double, Amaro scored following an RBI double by Brian Zelasko (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park). Al Barbato (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) singled home Zelasko to put the Bulls ahead to stay.

Buffalo outhit Bowling Green 10-4 to earn its first conference win of the season. It was the Bulls first victory over Bowling Green since joining the MAC in 2001.

With the win, Buffalo improved to 7-18 overall and 1-2 in the MAC. Bowling Green fell to 14-7 overall and 3-4 in the conference. Game two of the three-game series is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Amherst Audubon Field with first pitch slated for 1 pm.
