MUNCIE, IN – The University at Buffalo baseball team dropped a pair of games to Ball State on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals took game one, 3-1, and the nightcap, 16-1. Buffalo falls to 7-19 on the season, 2-5 in the Mid-American Conference.

In the first game, Nick Walczak (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) gave the Bulls a 1-0 lead when he led off the fourth inning with a home run to right field. The solo shot was Walczak’s second hit of the game; he doubled to left in the second inning.

Ball State answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the score. Justin Rogers doubled to left to open the inning for the Cardinals and later scored on a single by Kolbrin Vitek.

In the sixth, Ball State took the lead when Vitek recorded his second RBI of the game with a single to left, scoring Wayne Bond. The Cardinals then got an insurance run in the seventh when Bond doubled home Ryan Chenoweth, who had singled earlier in the inning.

The Cardinals tacked on three more runs in the second and would score six in the sixth and four in the seventh to complete the scoring. The Bulls and Cardinals will conclude their three-game series on Sunday, April 6. First pitch of the final game of the set is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
