Bulls Roll Past Purple EaglesNIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The University at Buffalo used five-run outbursts in the third and eighth innings to storm past Niagara 15-4 in a non-conference baseball game Thursday afternoon at Niagara’s Bobo Field. The 15 runs scored by the Bulls are the most this season. The Bulls capitalized on seven Niagara fielding errors, six unearned runs off the Purple Eagle pitching staff.
Junior righthander Kyle Swiatocha (Forest Hills, NY/Holy Cross) picked up the win in relief retiring all six batters faced, including three by strikeout, for his first victory of 2002. Lefthander Mark McMahon (West Seneca, NY/Timon/St. Jude) recorded his first save of the season with three innings of relief. The game was a rescheduled contest from earlier in the week, originally to be played at UB’s Amherst Pepsi Center Field. UB hosts Kent State in a four-game Mid-American Conference this weekend. |
