BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo baseball team picked up its first conference victory Saturday afternoon and snapped an 18-game losing streak with a 12-inning victory over Eastern Michigan at Amherst Audubon Field. The Bulls won the opener, 2-1, while EMU took the second game, 8-1. The Bulls now stand at 2-19 on the year and 1-5 in conference play.

The opener was a pitcher's duel as both starters pitched nine innings, but neither could claim the victory as the game went into extra innings as a 1-1 tie. The Bulls would load the bases in the bottom of the 12th inning and ultimately broke the tie as the EMU hurler threw a wild pitch which sophomore Eric Flynn (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) scored on from third base. Senior Mike Radanovic (Surrey, British Columbia/L.A. Matheson) provided the Bulls with nine strong innings, allowing one run on three hits and three strikeouts. The win marks Buffalo's first-ever win over its Mid-American Conference adversary.

In game two, UB kept up its momentum by getting on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Sophomore Brad Agustin (Williamsville, NY/Williamville East) batted the ball into the center gap to pick up the RBI. However, the Eagles tied it up in the top of the second and then took the lead with five runs in the top of the third. Jeff Davis pounced on a pitch that sent the ball into left field for a triple and the first hit of the inning. His teammates would continue the charge, as Brian Blackburn singled into center field for score two runs in the later inning. Neither team was able to find the plate again until EMU added two runs in the top of the ninth.

Buffalo next travels to cross-town rival Canisius on April 4 for a 3 p.m. matchup.
