Balentine Takes Pitching AwardBUFFALO, NY For the fourth consecutive week, a University at Buffalo baseball player has been selected as the Mid-American Conference's East Division Pitcher of the Week. Tyler Balentine (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) won this week's honor as announced by the league on Tuesday.
With the stellar effort, Balentine lowered his earned run average to a team-best 1.93 and currently ranks fifth in the MAC while allowing just a .204 opponent's batting average, which is sixth-best in the conference. Balentine's 15 strikeouts this season are second among the UB pitching staff. Balentine joins previous recipients Brendan Dunford (Buffalo, NY/Timon/St. Jude),
Mark Garrard (Port Hope, Ontario/Port Hope)
and John Sullivan (Buffalo, NY/Timon/St.
Jude) as the four different Bulls' hurler to win the weekly award. |
