Bulls Drop Series Finale to Northern Illinois, 6-4
Buffalo scored first in the bottom of the second inning on a trio of errors by the Huskies. Chris Ciesla (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) opened the inning by reaching base on a throwing error by the NIU shortstop. After a walk moved Ciesla to second and he advanced to third on a double play, another error, this time by the Northern Illinois first baseman, allowed Ciesla to open the scoring for the Bulls. Northern Illinois tied the game in the fourth when a two-out walk to Justin Behm led to the first run of the game for the Huskies. After the walk, Behm then stole second and scored on a single by Tim Kamin. Adam Skonieczki (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) led off the sixth inning with a home run for the Bulls and Rob Mancini (Windsor, Ontario/St. Thomas) led off the seventh with solo shot over the left field fence, giving Buffalo a 3-1 lead. After the Huskies scored a run in the seventh, they tied the game again in the eighth on another RBI single by Kamin.
But Northern Illinois answered again in the ninth. The Huskies scored four runs on three hits to take their first lead of the game. Danny Reed and Dave Reynolds each had RBI singles in the inning for Northern Illinois. Mike Stangroom (Fallston, MD/Calvert Hall) started on the mound for the Bulls, going six strong innings, allowing just one run and scattering five hits. The Bulls will be back on the diamond on Tuesday, March 25 when they travel to Syracuse to play Le Moyne. Game time between the Bulls and the Dolphins in scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
