Buffalo Falls to Bowling Green, 15-4
BOWLING GREEN, OH The Buffalo baseball team (3-12, 0-2) dropped a 15-4 decision to Bowling Green (3-7, 2-0) on Sunday afternoon at Warren Steller Field. Bowling Green scored twice in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Bulls answered in the top of the third as an Adrian Daniels (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) RBI single and a Bryan Sanchez (Canadaigua, NY/Canadaigua Academy) RBI ground out tied the contest at 2-2. The Falcons scored three times in the bottom of the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Bobby Majer. The Bulls would get one run back in the top of the fifth inning as Daniels would drive in his second run of the game on a single that scored Phil Vanhorne (Scarborough, Ontario/Mother Teresa) to make the score 5-3. However, Bowling Green erupted for five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, ignited by a two-run home run off the bat of 2002 MAC Player of the Year Kelly Hunt. Bowling Green added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 12-3. Daniels scored on a passed ball in the top of the seventh to cut the lead to 12-4. However, the Bulls would get no closer as the Falcons scored three more times in the bottom of the seventh before cruising to the victory. Hunt and Majer led Bowling Green with four RBIs apiece. Jimmy Lipari went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Falcons. Daniels finished 2-for-2 with three walks and two RBIs to lead UB. Vanhorne also collected two hits and scored twice for the Bulls. Nick Bellecose (Clarence,
NY/Clarence) got the start for the Bulls and allowed three earned runs on
three hits over four innings. The junior hurler dropped to 0-2 on the season. Burke Badenhop picked up the win
in relief for the Falcons. |
