SAN ANTONIO, TX – The University at Buffalo baseball team won a pair of games in San Antonio, TX on Wednesday, defeating Southern Illinois, 3-2, and Trinity University, 17-11. Bobby Pizzuto (Mentor, OH/Notre Dame Cathedral) hit a grand slam in the win over Trinity. With the victories Buffalo improves to 4-9 on the season.

In the first game of the day, the Bulls scored all three of their runs in the fourth inning against the Salukis. Jacob Rosenbeck (Medina, NY/Medina) reached base on an error to begin the inning and, after the next two Bulls flew out, Buffalo had four consecutive hits to drive in three runs. Shivam Bhan (Caldeon, Ontario/Mayfield) had the first hit for the Bulls, followed by an Eric Flynn (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) RBI single to center field. Pizzuto then singled, scoring Bhan, and E.J. Folli (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) got the final hit of the inning, scoring Flynn.

Southern Illinois scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings off Buffalo starter Zach Anderson (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) but Jeffrey Hains (Mexico, NY/Mexico) and Steve Geltz (Ransomville, NY/Wilson) each came on to throw two shutout innings in relief to slam the door for the Bulls.

The win was Anderson's second of the season and Geltz picked up his first save of the year.

In the nightcap, Buffalo exploded for 12 runs in the fourth inning on their way to a 17-11 victory over Trinity University. The 12 UB runs came on just four hits, as the inning also featured two errors, five walks, one hit by pitch and one catcher's interference call. But the biggest damage of the inning did come on one of the four Bulls hits, as Pizzuto hit a grand slam to left field to score the final four Buffalo runs of the inning.

Buffalo added four more runs in the seventh, including two on Brian Randazzo's (St. Charles, MO/St. Charles) second homer of the season. Folli walked to begin the inning and Randazzo followed with a two-run home run to increase the UB lead to 15-7. Later in the inning, Nick Walczak (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) and Rosenbeck both scored on a fielding error by the Trinity shortstop.
