HIGH POINT, NC - Buffalo lost 3-1 in another close game at High Point on Saturday afternoon. It marked the second straight game that the Bulls got solid pitching, but struggled to score runs.

The Bulls (1-5) got off to a good start as they scored in the top of the first inning when Joe Mihalics (Tonawanda, NY/Timon/St. Jude) scored on an RBI groundout by Chris McGraw (Summerville, SC/Coffeyville CC) to give UB a 1-0 lead. Buffalo starting pitcher John Sullivan (Buffalo, NY/Timon/St. Jude) made the lead stand up as he pitched four innings of shutout ball. However, in the bottom of the fifth inning, High Point's Nick Thompson hit a two-run home run to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead. High Point (5-10) would add an insurance run in the seventh inning to take a 3-1 lead. The Bulls threatened in the top of the ninth as Adrian Daniels (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) and Andrew Wengert (Utica, NY/Proctor) both singled to bring the go-ahead run to the plate. However, Bryan Sanchez (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) popped out to shortstop to end the game.

Sullivan pitched seven innings and allowed three runs on six hits. High Point starter Matt Kniginyzky pitched 8 2/3 innings to pick up the victory. Wengert and Phil Vanhorne (Scarborough, Ont./Mother Teresa) each had two hits for the Bulls.
