Bulls Split Twinbill with Morehead State Capture 26-17 victory in game one including 10
runs in the top of the ninth
MOREHEAD, KY - The University at Buffalo baseball team split its doubleheader versus Morehead State at Allen Field on Saturday afternoon, capturing a 26-17 victory in game one followed by a 17-3 loss in the nightcap.
The Bulls continued to trim back the Eagles’ lead with seven runs in the top of the eighth, eventually capturing a 16-12 lead. Five of the Bulls’ runs came off a two-run home run by freshman Matt Pollock and a three-run shot by Rosenbeck down the right field line.
Brian Pullyblank (1-1) recorded his first career victory in one inning of relief work, facing three batters with two ground outs and a fly out in the eighth inning.
In the nightcap, the Bulls fell 17-3 in seven innings of play. The Bulls’ three runs came off a pair of home runs by Lawler and Agustin. Lawler led the Bulls off in the top of the third with a solo shot to cut back the Eagles’ lead to 7-1.
Agustin went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and RBIs. Lawler went 1-for-1 with his lone hit a solo shot in the third. Starter Pierre Miville-Deschenes (0-2) recorded the Bulls’ loss in 3.0 innings of work, striking out three batters. The Bulls will face the Eagles in the series finale on Sunday, March 7 at Allen Field with the first pitch set for 12:00 pm.
