Athletes of the Week - 12/22/2003
Ed Pawlak (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern) of the wrestling team won the 174-pound individual
title at the Beast of the East Collegiate Classic on Friday, December 19. The senior went 5-0 on
the afternoon, including one win by fall and a 6-5 decision over Pittsburgh's Francis Iorfido in
the championship match. Pawlak's performance helped the Bulls to a fifth-place finish in the
20-team tournament.
Hollie Cook (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) of the women's basketball team scored a team-high
14 points while adding three assists and grabbing three rebounds in the Bulls' loss to Oakland on
Sunday afternoon. Cook's 14 points were just two away from her career high. The sophomore is
averaging 5.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.6 steals through the first seven games of the season.
