Athletes of the Week - 12/11/2000

Davis Lawrence (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) of the men's basketball team scored a career-high 15 points off the bench to lead the Bulls to their first win of the season defeating Duquesne 64-59. Lawrence controlled the last seven minutes of the game, scoring 13 of his 15 points in the last 7:22, pulling down a couple of key rebounds and taking a charge late in the game. He hit 8-of-10 free throws in the last three minutes to secure the win.

Jason McLachlan (Arvada, CO) of the men's swim team won three individual events and anchored the Bulls' winning 400 medley relay squad to lead UB past Niagara 151-74. McLachlan took the 200 freestyle in 1:43.92 and 200 individual medley in 2:03.39 while also clocking the fastest time in the 200 breaststroke, 2:13.56, as an exhibition entrant.

Tiffany Bell (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield) of the women's basketball team averaged 22 points and six rebounds to lead the Bulls to a pair of wins including UB's first win in school history at Youngstown State. Against St. Bonaventure, Bell was a perfect 11-of-11 from the field while against Youngstown State she tied her career high with four steals.
