Athletes of the Week - 11/25/2002

Gary Cooper (Adams, NY/South Jefferson) of the wrestling team went undefeated in two matches in leading the Bulls to a pair of dual meet victories. Cooper pinned Lock Haven's Mike Greenberg in the 174-pound match at 2:41 of the first period to swing the momentum toward the Bulls in a 23-20 victory over the Bald Eagles, who entered the meet ranked 20th in the country by Amateur Wrestling News. Cooper also registered a 16-7 major decision over his opponent from Binghamton in a 34-7 win on Sunday.

 

Photo of Ashlee Burton Ashlee Burton (Franklin, IN/Franklin Community) of the women's swimming and diving team placed second in the one-meter and three-meter diving events at the Pittsburgh Invitational. The freshman scored a season-best 250.55 points from the one-meter board, finishing three points behind champion Melissa Kull of Connecticut. Burton also registered a season-best 405.45 points in the three-meter competition.
