Athletes of the Week - 11/20/2006
Michael McDowell (Rush, NY/Rush Henrietta) of the men's swimming and diving team tied the school record with his victory in the one-meter diving event against Canisius. McDowell scored a six-dive total of 314.10 points, equalling the dual meet mark set by Partick Lee in 2004. McDowell also scored a season-high 313.50 on the three-meter board, exhibitioning the event.
Meili Carpenter (Boulder, CO/Fairview) of the women's swimming and diving team shattered a 14-year old school record to win the three-meter event against Canisius. Carpenter scored 321.79 points in six dives to break the previous record of 302.65 set in 1992 by Janet Ward. Carpenter also continued her undefeated streak in the one-meter diving event, scoring a personal season-high total of 291.82 points in the win over the Griffs.
