Eric Moore (Dover, NJ/St. Benedict's Prep) of the men's basketball team scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Bulls to a season-opening 72-69 victory over Canisius. He knocked down a career-best four three pointers and dished out four assists while playing a career-high 33 minutes in just the fourth start of his career. The sophomore point guard was also a perfect four-of-four from the free throw line.
Mary Veith (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) of the women's cross country team earned All-Northeast honors with her 18th-place finish at the NCAA Northeast Regionals. Veith, a sophomore, turned in a 6K time of 21:56.7, improving her time from last season's meet by nearly a minute. She was also the third UB runner in the last three years to earn the honor.
