Athletes of the Week - 11/08/2004
Lee Catchpole (Norwich, England/Bungay)
of the men's soccer team scored three goals in UB's
two Mid-American Conference Tournament matches. Catchpole returned from an ankle injury that had
sidelined him for seven games to tally both Buffalo markers as the Bulls knocked off Northern Illinois, 2-1, in the
opening round for UB's first tournament win since 2000. He also scored in UB's 4-1 loss to Akron in the semifinals.
Katie Weekley (Dayton,
OH/Chaminade-Julienne) of the women's volleyball team had a
career-high 18 kills and a match-high 11 blocks in leading the Bulls to a come-from-behind win over Miami (Ohio). She
had three kills and two blocks in the deciding fifth game as UB picked up its first MAC victory of the
season. Weekley leads the Bulls with 131 total blocks (1.36 per game) and ranks third in the league in the category.
