Athletes of the Week - 10/29/2001
Jerimie Slick (Rochester, NY/Greece-Olympia) of the men's
cross country team earned first-team All-Mid-American Conference honors
with his sixth-place finish at the MAC Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich.
Slick became the first UB men's runner to nab All-MAC First Team honors
with his 25:21.9 showing on the eight-kilometer course.
Becky Ashare (Coram, NY/Longwood) of
the women's volleyball team recorded a team-high 12 kills at Bowling
Green and added nine kills with no errors in 24 attempts at Central
Michigan. For the week, which included UB's win over Binghamton, Ashare
had 30 kills (3.75 per game) and a .368 hitting percentage. For the
season, she leads the Bulls with a .267 hitting percentage.
