ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Geoff Thompson (Clarence, NY/Clarence) of the men's soccer team scored two goals to lead the Bulls past Kentucky, 2-1. The victory by the Bulls was the first against the Wildcats in five meetings. The senior, playing in his final home game, scored in the first half to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead, then got the gamewinner in the 79th minute when he headed in a corner kick to break a 1-1 tie. He leads the team with seven goals in 2002.

Emily Dills (East Bethany, NY/Pavilion/San Francisco) of the women's volleyball team scored the match-winning service ace to give the Bulls a 17-15 win in the deciding fifth game of a 3-2 win over Toledo, giving the Bulls their first conference win since the 1999 season and snapping a 49-match losing streak in the MAC. The junior finished with six kills and three blocks against the Rockets and followed that up with a team-high 12 kills against Central Michigan, tying her career high, along with seven digs and two blocks.
