Athletes of the Week - 10/20/2008

Photo of Davonte Shannon Davonte Shannon (Jeannette, PA/Jeannette) of the football team had a career-best 20 tackles, the most by any Bull in their ten years in Division I-A football, including two for losses. Shannon led a UB defense that held Army to 46 yards in the fourth quarter and overtime to allow the Bulls to come back from a two touchdown deficit for a 27-24 overtime win over the Black Knights. The sophomore had 12 solo stops and was involved in the tackle that caused the fumble that set up Buffalo’s game-tying score.

 

 

Photo of Mary Veith Mary Veith (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) of the women's cross country team finished third at the Bowling Green Falcon Invitational to lead the UB women to a third-place team finish. Veith completed the 6K course in 22:01.96, placing behind a pair of Bowling Green entrants among the 121-runner field. The senior has finished in the top 15 in three of her four races this season.
