Athletes of the Week - 10/12/2009
Brett Hamlin (Jupiter, FL/William T. Dwyer) of the football team caught six passes, including a touchdown reception, for 132 yards in UB's 40-3 win over Gardner-Webb. He was a big-play threat for the Bulls as he had catches of 50, 39 and 28 yards on drives that all resulted in touchdowns as he recorded 100 receiving yards for the second time this season. Hamlin caught a seven-yard touchdown for his first score of the season. He is second on the team with 35 catches for 444 yards.
Stephanie Velez (Mamaroneck, NY/ Mamaroneck) of the women's soccer team scored three goals in two Mid-American Conference games as the Bulls won both contests. Velez tallied a goal in UB's 2-1 win over Western Michigan and connected on both goals in the 2-0 shutout of Northern Illinois. For the season, Velez leads the Bulls with four goals and nine points.
