Athletes of the Week - 10/10/2005
Rob Schroeder (East Rochester, NY/East
Rochester) of the football team was part of a stingy
defensive unit that allowed Akron just 225 yards while picking up 10 quarterback hurries, nine tackles for loss and
three sacks, all season bests. Schroeder tallied four tackles, including two for losses, assisted on a sack and added
a pair of hurries. For the season, the defensive lineman has 17 tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Brooke McCalla (Pickering,
Ontario/Dunbarton) of the women's soccer team scored the tying
goal and was instrumental in setting up the winning goal in UB's 3-2 double overtime victory over Northern
Illinois. McCalla scored in the 68th minute on a penalty kick after being fouled in the goal box. She then drew the
foul that set up Katie Fage's (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem
Central) direct kick to win the match in the second minute
of the second overtime.
