Athletes of the Week - 10/04/2004
Steven King (Hempstead, NY/Uniondale)
of the football team scored two touchdowns and rushed for
a career-high 110 yards on 15 carries as the Bulls defeated Central Florida 48-20. King scored on a 30-yard run
on UB's first possession of the game and then added a one-yard TD in the fourth quarter. The Bulls rushed for
245 yards and scored five touchdowns on the ground, the most since joining the Mid-American Conference.
Katrin Fischer (Ternitz,
Austria/Borg) of the women's tennis team scored singles and doubles
victories in leading the Bulls past St. Francis (PA), 7-0, on Saturday. Fischer, playing fourth singles, earned a
"double-bagel" (6-0, 6-0) win over Mallary Palmer and combined with
Onessa Williams (Albany,
NY/Albany) to down Palmer and Eva Keresztes, 8-1, at third doubles.
