Athletes of the Week - 09/27/2004
Dan McKenna (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool)
of the men's cross country team raced to a
personal-best finish at Lehigh University's Paul Short Invitational on Saturday. McKenna, a sophomore, was the Bulls'
top finisher in 77th place in the 163-runner field in 25:39.48 for 8K. The time bettered his previous best
performance, set at last season's Paul Short meet, by thirty seconds.
Andreea Novaceanu (Bucharest, Romania/Emil
Racovita) of the women's tennis team won two
titles at the Bowling Green Invitational. Novaceanu, a freshman, captured the first flight singles title on Sunday
with a three-set win over Bowling Green's Susie Schoenberger, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. She also combined with freshman
Tina Jacob (Singapore/Raffles JC) to take the second flight doubles title, defeating Bowling Green's Cam
Benjamin and Ashley Jakupcin, 9-7. Novaceanu was a perfect 6-0 in her matches at the tournament.
