Athletes of the Week - 09/16/2002
Randy Rocchio (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East)
of the men's tennis team began the 2002-03 season with a perfect 3-0 record at the St. Bonaventure Fall Classic. Rocchio posted a 12-10 tiebreaker
victory over St. Bonaventure's Mikko Haulos in Sunday's finale to keep his record unblemished. A sophomore,
Rocchio also went 2-1 in doubles competition.
Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North
Tonawanda) of the women's volleyball team
earned All-Tournament honors at the Syracuse Invitational after leading the Bulls to a 2-1 record over the weekend.
In the three matches, Matikosh posted 48 kills and 31 digs, team highs in both categories. The junior leads
the Bulls with 159 kills (4.18 per game) and 124 digs (3.26 per game).
