Athletes of the Week - 09/14/2009

Zach Maynard (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley) of the football team threw for 400 yards with four touchdowns in UB's home opener against Pitt. Maynard, a sophomore quarterback, went 24-of-35 posting the most yards in UB's Division I-A history (1999-present). He threw touchdown passes of 24, 54, 67 and 12 yards, including a pair in the second quarter to Naaman Roosevelt (Buffalo, NY/St. Joe's).

 

 

Tori Beckman (Kansas City, MO/Park Hill) of the women's volleyball team recorded 45 digs, averaging 5.0 digs per set, during UB's three wins this past week. Beckman had a match-high 19 digs on Saturday against Youngstown State and currently leads the Bulls and the MAC in digs per set at 4.53. The team's libero this season, Beckman also contributed eight assists and a service ace in the three matches during the week.
