ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Dan McKenna (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) of the men's cross country team won the individual title at the season-opening Tommy Evans Invitational at Akron. McKenna, a junior, controlled the four-mile course throughout the race and finished in 20:36, 21 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. The Bulls finished second to Akron in the team standings.

Andreea Novaceanu (Bucharest, Romania/Emil Racovita) of the women's tennis team won the A singles title at the Cornell Invitational with a perfect 4-0 record. Novaceanu scored a straight-sets win over Cornell's Tamara John, 6-4, 6-2, in the championship after winning her semifinal match in a super-tiebreaker over Kasia Preneta of Cornell. The title was Novaceanu's third of her career after taking singles crowns at tournaments at Bowling Green and Dartmouth in 2004.
