Athletes of the Week - 09/08/2009

Nick Fetterman (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) of the men's soccer team scored a shutout in his first career start as the Bulls defeated Pittsburgh, 1-0, in the first round of the West Virginia/Nike Classic. Fetterman then held the host Mountaineers scoreless for 119 minutes before allowing an overtime goal. In the two-match weekend, the sophomore goalie earned four saves and finished with a 0.43 goals against average.

 

 

Dani Silvers (Waynesville, NC/Tuscola) of the women's volleyball team recorded 20 kills, hitting .417, and adding a pair of blocks in UB's four-set victory over Robert Morris at the Nittany Lion Invitational. Against Pittsburgh, the senior collected 13 kills against just two hitting errors, with two blocks. Silvers leads the Bulls in kills (76) and total attempts (173). She is second in hitting percentage (.283) and third in total blocks (9).
