Athletes of the Week - 09/03/01
Craig Rohlfs (Cincinnati, OH/Moeller)
of the football team scored his first collegiate touchdown
returning an interception 82 yards (third-longest in school history)
in UB's 31-15 loss to Rutgers. Rohlfs' pick was also the first
interception returned for a UB touchdown since the final game of the
1998 season (22 games). It was his seventh interception and the 15th
turnover that he has been involved in during his UB career. Rohlfs
also had three kickoff returns for 73 yards, totalling a career-best
155 all-purpose yards in the game.
Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda,
NY/North Tonawanda) of the volleyball team was named to the UB
Morgan Classic Invitaional All-Tournament team in leading the Bulls to
a 2-1 record. Matikosh recorded team-highs of 32 kills, 25 digs and 10
blocks in the three matches. It was the second consecutive All-
Tournament nod for Matikosh, who was named the Most Valuable Player of
the 2000 Classic. In 2000, Matikosh led the Bulls with 299 digs and was
second on the team with 278 kills.
