Athletes of the Week - 06/02/2003
 Laura Olson (Lyons,
NY/Lyons) of the women's track and field team advanced to the NCAA
Championships in Sacramento, CA with her second-place finish in the pole vault at the NCAA East Regional meet
in Fairfax, VA. Olson cleared 12-10.25 (3.92m) to tie Clemson's Joana Costa and move on to the national
meet. Olson holds the school pole vault record of 13-1.75 (4.01m) set when she won the MAC Championship in May.
Biaunca McFarland (Binghamton,
NY/Binghamton) of the women's track and field team earned a
trip to the NCAA Championships in Sacramento by finishing fifth in the triple jump at the NCAA East
Regionals. McFarland broke her own school record with a leap of 42-0.75 (12.83m). Her previous record was
42-0.50 (12.81m), set in her victorious effort at the 2002 MAC Championships.
