Athletes of the Week - 05/23/2005
Chris McGraw (Summerville, SC/Stratford/Coffeyville
CC) of the baseball team rose to the
occasion on Sunday, pitching in the final game of his career on Senior Day and coming out on the winning side of a
1-0 pitchers' duel with Marshall. He allowed seven hits and two walks but stranded eight runners, including three
on third in the game. While tossing a career-high 142 pitches, McGraw struck out a career-high 12 batters for
his first career complete-game shutout.
Stacey Evans (Collinsville,
IL/Triad) was named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference
Softball Team for the third straight year as announced last week by the league office. Evans completed her
four-year career with 42 wins, 22 shutouts, 536 strikeouts and a 1.94 earned run average. She finished the 2005
season with 12 wins, five shutouts, two saves, 120 strikeouts and a 2.20 ERA. Evans allowed just one earned run
in 17.1 innings pitched for a 0.52 ERA in three appearances at the 2005 MAC Tournament, the Bulls'
first-ever postseason appearance in their Division I history.
