Athletes of the Week - 05/22/2000Kamau Halim (Medina, NY/Medina) of the men's track and field team became UB's first Mid-American Conference men's outdoor champion with his victory in the triple jump with a leap of 50'-9". Halim, a junior, also finished second in the long jump (24'-10") scoring 18 of the Bulls' 45 team points in the meet. The Bulls finished ninth of 12 teams at the meet improving from their 11th place showing in 1999 and more than doubling their 1999 point total of 21. Christina Keck (Erie, PA/McDowell) of the women's track and
field team finished fourth with a time of 2:12.77 in the 800 meters at the
Mid-American Conference Championships. Keck, a true freshman, was also part of
the 4x400 meter relay squad that finished sixth in 3:48.45. The Bulls finished
seventh of 11 teams at the meet, scoring 24.5 points, an improvement from 1999's
ninth place, 24.5 point finish. |
