Athletes of the Week - 05/20/2002
 John Sullivan (Buffalo, NY/Timon/St.
Jude) of the baseball team pitched six innings of three-hit
relief to earn the victory in UB's 10-8 win over Big South Conference regular season champion Coastal Carolina,
a team currently receiving votes in the USA Today Baseball Weekly/ESPN national poll. The junior
righthander was perfect through five innings of work as the Bulls rallied for six runs in the seventh and eighth innings
to support Sullivan.
Biaunca McFarland (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton)
of the women's track and field team became
a Mid-American Conference champion with her victory in the triple jump at the league meet in Ypsilanti,
MI. McFarland also bettered her own school record by eight inches with her leap of 42-0.50 (12.81m). Her
victory also helped the Bulls to improve on last season's results as UB placed eighth in the 12-team field with 47
total points, the most since joining the league in 1999.
