ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Brian Heim (East Amherst, NY/Williamsvile East) of the men's track and field team finished second in the 400-meter hurdles finals in 52.26 seconds at the Mid-American Conference Championships to earn a trip to the NCAA East Regional Championships. He set the track record with a mark of 53.23 seconds in the preliminaries. Heim was also part of both of UB's sixth-place relay teams, running the second leg of the 4x100-meters and the third leg of the 4x400-meters.

Faith Thompson (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) of the women's track and field team won the Mid-American Conference title in the hammer throw at 198-10 (60.60m). Thompson broke her own UB, MAC and Ohio track records with the victory, and has won the hammer throw in seven of UB's eight meets this season. She also placed third in the shot put at 50-5.50 (15.38m).
