Athletes of the Week - 05/09/2005
Sean McWilliams (Canandaigua,
NY/Canandaigua) of the baseball team picked up a win and a save
in UB's three victories for the week. Against Canisius, he allowed one run in five innings of work in a 13-1
victory. Against Toledo, he got out of a seventh-inning bases-loaded jam, inducing a double play and a strikeout
to preserve UB's win over the Rockets. McWilliams lowered his earned run average to 3.47 in the two
appearances over eight innings.
Melissa Pace (Long Beach,
CA/Millikan) of the softball team hit .300 with a team-high six RBIs and
a 1.000 slugging percentage in UB's four victories which sent the Bulls into the Mid-American Conference
Tournament for the first time in school history. Pace hit a three-run home run in each game of a doubleheader
sweep of Ohio on Saturday as she was a combined 3-for-5 with three runs scored and six RBIs in the two games.
She was also perfect in the field in 26 chances at first base on the week.
