Athletes of the Week - 05/08/2006
James Kingsley (Medina, NY/Medina) of the baseball team became the second player in UB history to record 200 hits in a career as he batted .316 (6-for-19) in five games during the week. Kingsley went 4-for-7 with seven RBIs in UB's split at LeMoyne. He also homered in the LeMoyne contest to also become the second UB player to reach 25 career homers. Kingsley is the only UB player to get 200 hits, score 100 times, drive in 100 and hit 25 homers in a career.
Mary Russell (Apalachin, NY/Owego Free Academy) of the women's softball team batted .476 (10-for-21) in UB's seven games last week. Russell hit the game-winning walk-off home run in UB's 6-5 victory over Miami (OH) on Saturday. She scored seven runs and was 2-for-2 on her stolen base attempts for the week. Against Syracuse, she was 6-for-6 and finished the season with a .293 batting average and four home runs.
