Athletes of the Week - 05/07/2007

Photo of Reggie Rucker Reggie Rucker (Rochester, NY/Edison Tech) of the men's track and field team set a UB and an Akron Lee Jackson Track record in winning the 400-meter hurdles in 51.41 seconds at the Campbell/Wright Open. Rucker broke the mark by more than a quarter-second. He also qualified for this month's NCAA East Regional Championships. Rucker has established new school records in four indoor or outdoor hurdles events in 2007.

 

 

Photo of Novice Eight Crew The Novice Eight boat won its race at the ECAC Metro Championships as UB crews won two races at the meet. The Novice Eight boat won by nearly two seconds over Villanova in the six-boat field. The boat was raced by coxswain Britt Marshall (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) and rowers Kate Garofalo (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), Samantha Masucci (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), Stephanie Papaj (Kenmore, NY/Nardin Academy), Mary Karl (Cooperstown, NY/Cooperstown), Lauren Schifferle (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora), Francisca Nwoke (Rosedale, NY/Hillcrest), Emily Garvey (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and Jordan Talbott (Dumfries, VA/Forest Park).
