Athletes of the Week - 04/30/2007
Bobby Pizzuto (Mentor, OH/Notre Dame Cathedral) of the baseball team hit .542 in UB’s five games this past week as the Bulls went 3-2 on the week. Pizzuto had 13 hits, including two doubles. The freshman outfielder drove in eight runs, while crossing the plate seven times on his own. Pizzuto also recorded his second triple of the season, helping UB to its third straight conference series victory. He is currently second on the team with a .331 batting average.
Katrin Fischer (Ternitz, Austria/Borg) of the women's tennis team was named the recipient of the MAC's LeAnn Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship Award and was named to the league's All-Tournament team. Fischer scored the winning point in UB's 4-1 win over Toledo to propel the Bulls into the championship match for the second time in two seasons. She went 2-0 in singles play over the weekend and finished her career with a 10-match winning streak to close as UB's third-winningest singles player with 61 wins.
