Athletes of the Week - 04/30/2001
Brendan Dunford (Buffalo, NY/Timon/St. Jude) of the baseball team threw a complete game and struck out nine in UB's 15-1 win over Akron on April 27. It was Dunford's third win in a row and his third complete game in his last four outings. Dunford allowed only a first-inning run and scattered eight hits, dropping his earned run average by more than a full point.
Biaunca McFarland (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) of the women's
track and field team won the Eastern Triple Jump championship at the Penn Relays
in Philadelphia. McFarland took the event with a leap of 40-2 (12.24m) to claim
the title.
