Athletes of the Week - 04/28/2008

Photo of Brian Randazzo Brian Randazzo (St. Charles, MO/St. Charles) of the baseball team hit .476 (10-for-21) with five RBIs and a home run in UB's six-game week, including a Mid-American Conference series victory over Akron. Randozzo, a junior second baseman, also scored seven runs from his leadoff position and added a stolen base while drawing three walks. For the season, he is hitting .310 with 18 RBIs and a team-leading seven doubles.

 

 

Photo of Smaranda Stan Smaranda Stan (Stantu Gheorge, Romania/Economic) of the women's tennis team scored all three of UB's clinching singles victories as the Bulls claimed their first Mid-American Conference title. Stan scored a 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 win over Western Michigan's Emily Dudzik in the final match of UB's 4-3 championship win over the Broncos. Stan, playing fourth singles, also scored the clinching victories in UB's quarterfinal victory over Toledo and semifinal triumph over Miami (OH). All three of her singles wins were in three sets. Stan is 27-4 in singles play this season, including a 15-2 mark at fourth singles.
