Athletes of the Week - 04/17/2000
Steve Esler (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) of the men's track and field team won the high jump at the Albany Invitational. Esler's jump of 6-9 was a personal best and set a UB school record breaking his previous school best mark of 6-8 3/4 set at the season opening Coastal Carolina Spring Break Classic. The Bulls won the five-team meet with 213 points.
Jessica York (South Dayton, NY/Pine Valley) of the softball
team pitched a complete game three-hitter to beat Syracuse 2-1 breaking the
Bulls' 19-game losing skid. The freshman went seven innings, walking a pair and
allowing just one run, a homer by Jackie Hermann. She leads the team with a
4.83 earned run average.
