ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Jeff Loveys (Woodstock, Ontario/College Avenue SS) of the baseball team pitched the Bulls to a 3-2 win over Bowling Green in the opening of a three-game series. Loveys, a sophomore right-hander, allowed just two earned runs on four hits in his seven innings of work while striking out three. He also struck out one in two-thirds of an inning of relief against Niagara earlier in the week.

Katrin Fischer (Ternitz, Austria/Borg) of the women's tennis team won a three-set match over Akron's Courtney Brenkus, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, at third singles to give UB a 4-3 victory over the Zips. The Bulls rallied for the win over Akron by taking four of the six singles matches, including a pair that went to third sets. In her freshman campaign, Fischer is 13-10 overall, including a pair of Mid-American Conference victories.
