Athletes of the Week - 04/10/2006

Roy Richards (Rochester, NY/Edison Tech) of the track and field team won two individual events and was part of a winning relay at the Miami Invitational. Richards won the long jump at 24-3.75 (7.41m), just missing his season-best mark by a quarter-inch. He also posted a win in the 100-meters in 10.96 seconds, establishing a season-best in the event and anchored UB's winning 4x100-meter relay team to a season-best finish of 41.70.

 

The Second Varsity 8 of the women's rowing team won the Grand Final of the Knecht Cup in Camden, NJ. The Bulls took the championship race in 7:29.3, four seconds better than Colgate. The squad members included coxswain Margaret Devendorf (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and rowers Chandra Hazey (Riverview, MI/Riverview), Bonnie McVicker (Syracuse, NY/C.W. Baker), Joanne Olsen (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna), Jessica Hughes (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), Jackie Stone (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham), Nicole Cyr (Groton, NY/Dryden), Alexis Grates (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia) and Karen Corey (Kingston, NY/Kingston).
